A referral service built on the federal record — every mover on this site is shown with the safety data the government already collects about it.
VettedMove exists because choosing an interstate mover is a records problem pretending to be a shopping problem. The federal government licenses every interstate household goods carrier, inspects their trucks at the roadside, logs their crashes and publishes safety ratings — but that record is scattered across databases most people have never heard of. We put it in one place, next to every mover we list.
We currently publish the federal record for 19,524 active, licensed interstate household goods carriers — every one that holds interstate for-hire authority for household goods and runs at least one truck. Nothing on a carrier's row is our opinion: the licence numbers, fleet sizes, inspection counts, out-of-service rates, crash records and safety ratings all come from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's own files. The methodology page documents exactly where each number comes from and what it does and doesn't mean.
VettedMove is a pay-per-referral business. When you call (866) 297-2360 and book a move, the moving company pays us a referral fee. You are never charged for using this site, and no mover can pay us to appear here, to rank higher, or to have its safety record softened.
That model has one honest tension in it: we get paid when moves happen. We manage it the only way that works — by publishing the same federal data for every carrier, favorable or not, and by never accepting payment for placement. The safety records on this site include carriers with high out-of-service rates, carriers with crash records, and the 48% of licensed movers that have never been inspected at the roadside. We publish it all, because the record is the product.

If you are a carrier and believe the federal data shown for your company is out of date, the fastest fix is at the source: FMCSA's own records drive this site, and we refresh our copy of the federal files quarterly. If our copy disagrees with the current federal record, call us and we will correct it promptly — the current-record date is printed on the methodology page.
Our flagship analysis — the unrated-mover study — found that 90.5% of licensed interstate household goods movers hold no federal safety rating, and that the median mover runs two trucks.
